Mylar bags vs. vacuum sealing: Which is right for you?
So, which is better: Mylar bags or vacuum sealing?
The answer depends on a couple of factors. How long do you want to store the food? Will you freeze it?
Length of storage
If you really want to protect food for a long period of time in open air, Mylar bags are your best option.
Over the period of many years, vacuum seals may break, allowing air to creep inside.
Also, Mylar bags are opaque; they block all light from entering. Vacuum seal bags, on the other hand, are often clear.
These bags do very little to prevent degradation due to sunlight.
